Through My Lens

Capturing memories

About Me

My name is Simran, and I am 16 years old. As you may have already seen, I am very interested in photography, which is why I chose it as my personal project. My father first introduced me to photography when I was about 9 years old during a camping trip in the Netherlands. Ever since that moment, the art of photography has fascinated me. However, I was never able to pursue it seriously until now, because I didn’t know enough about it at the time.

Photography is not just about capturing moments—it is a powerful way for me to connect my culture with my life here in the Netherlands. Through different frames and perspectives, I can express my identity and the things that matter to me. What makes this topic truly exciting is how camera angles, lenses, shadows, lighting, framing, shutter speed, ISO, aperture, and many other elements can completely transform the meaning of an image or video.

Photography is also an essential part of digital media, marketing, and communication, which makes me even more curious to learn about it.

Overall, I have really enjoyed working on this project and found it meaningful. I hope you enjoyed viewing my personal project and the exhibition.
